that the reason italian gothic architecture looks nothing like the elaborate french gothic architecture so familiar in cathedrals like paris's notre dame is that due to the heat, italian cathedrals could not handle the same amount of stained glass windows. i loved that little fact i learned during an architecture class i took last year.

my memories of this trip are few and far between. i really remember those matchy gap outfits i'm sporting in the photos as well as my dad driving illegally through a piazza to get to our hotel. i remember climbing to the top of the duomo, but there is no recollection of seeing the botticelli's at the uffizi. i did however, have a super cool sparkly hello kitty backpack.

i can't wait to go back and make new memories. i have been daydreaming for a while since mr.c and i decided to do some sort of serious post-graduation europe trip that hopefully spain and germany will be a part of. i have to find that sparkly backpack again.
